This model kit was already for almost a year in my house, but after seeing the model build by Fred Suber on Retromobil in Paris, I wanted to start to build my own.
I know, the kit is not easy, but I am going to try to do my best.
Lets start and first present the kit:
I am not going to build a race-version, I think, it's going to be a "stradale".
What's in the box?
A lot of white metal parts:
Some resin parts:
Divers small material:
PE-parts and tires:
Decals, rvs material for spokes and very important a guide for modelling:
Before we start, we had to split all the white metal parts, because MFH has put them in 10 bags, but all mixed up.
I spread out everything on the table and start to search!
For every picture in the guide, I made one bag with parts.
It took me three evenings to get this done and at the end, I had 32 bags.
More then a year ago, I already bought a machine for cleaning and polishing all those small metal parts.
It should cost to much time to do this all by hand.
Officially this machine is for polishing jewellery, but a lot of model builders are using this.
How the machine works?
In the machine there are 4 big magnets, which are turn around by an electro-motor.
You can choose for different speed, a timer and turning left or right.
On the machine is plastic bowl with very small steel pins.
When turning around, the pins are hitting the metal parts.
On this way, the metal parts will be cleaned and polished.
In the bowl there's a some water and a few drops of fluid for a dishwasher.
Because this is the first time I work with this machine, I had to try out how this works.
Searching for speed and time, it's important, because white metal is very soft.
When the machine is turning to long, you can loose some detail on your parts.
I start slowly and short of time, but now, I think, I've found the right turn.
For example, I did half of the first bag and I must say, it's looks good.
So, we can start and I am looking forward to this beautiful kit! |

Now all the parts are polished we can start to build.
Cut 12 pieces of brass-wire to put all these parts together.
My technical English is not so very well, but pictures will tell the story.
Now we have to pay attention to use the right parts (A,B,C or D) to make everything turning on the right way.
This all is not so difficult to do and easy to follow in the building guide!
It's a shame to build everything in, because at the end we have to close the whole engine.
When you do everything right, it must be possible to turn the axle around and see everything moving.
I did my best on it, but I came to one quarter of a turn and then it stuck.
But after all, I don't mind, when the engine is closed, you will see nothing anymore of this all. |

Thank you all guys.
We start at the head of the engine and again a lot of small parts to polish.
I had to drill 156 holes in different sizes and make 48 small pins to keep everything together.
You must be a masochist to build this kind of modelkits! |

It's time to close the engine, it's a pitty!
And again we had to drill a lot of small holes, even to 0,40 mm.
It's not easy for my old eyes.
Finally there's coming some colour on the engine.
In meanwhile we weathered the engine a little to get some more detail on the different parts.

Thanks.
It is a pleasure to build on this kit, until now everything is fitting so well.
Why don't you build your own paintshop?
It's easy and not expensive, you only need some space for it. |

Thank you guys!
@Modena06: I use Weathering Wash from Models.co.uk.
It's easy to work with, it's on water base.
You see, I have different colours and you can use it for a lot of purposes.
And if you want, you can spray all kind of clear paint over it.

Small update, still drilling small holes.
Only a few things to do and then is the engine finished.
Then we can start at the chassis! |
